Box of Chocolates Valentine’s Day Fraction Activity

Are you looking for a fun activity to use when teaching about fractions around Valentine’s Day?! In this activity students create a heart box of fraction chocolates to display their knowledge of fractions. The best part? This printable activity has many different options to choose from!

Here’s what is included:

• Option 1: Heart Box has fractions that are already shaded in. Students identify the fraction that represents the shaded portion (halves, fourths, eighths or halves, thirds, fourths). This option has a preassembled version where students do not need to cut and glue. It also has a cut and paste option where students put the entire activity together on their own.
• Option 2: Heart Box has fractions that are partitioned, but not shaded. This gives students the opportunity to make their fraction Valentine box unique! Students shade their partitioned shapes. Students identify the fraction that represents the shaded portion that they colored. This option has a preassembled version where students do not need to cut and glue.
