Description
These numbers to 20 activities turn number sense practice into a Place Value Party. The five activities give students lots of ways to count, build, compare, and order numbers.
Activities Included
- Delicious Digits cake: students show a number from 1 to 20 on a two-ten-frame cake and show one more and one less on the candles, as a blackline master or a cut and paste craft
- Courtly Counters crown: trace and write the number word, find the number on a number line, show it in pictures and on a ten frame, then build a class number line (crowns for numbers 1 to 30)
- Place value balloons: 25 tasks to put in balloons, covering greater and less than, missing numbers, comparing, counting on, and counting
- Pin the Nose on the Clown: when their number is shown on a ten frame, students pin their nose on the clown (30 numbers included)
- Riddle Me This: 12 task cards asking which number is greater, with answers that reveal a riddle on a number grid
