Horrible Harry and Prefix/Suffix Freebies

Hey y’all!  Tomorrow is Friday so that in-and-of-itself is reason enough to celebrate with a blog post!  Yesterday I blogged about what we’ve been up to in math, so today I thought I’d drop by to show you what my kiddos have been working on in ELA!
I really do love this time of year in 2nd grade because my students LOVE reading chapter books.  They can sit still for hours reading a good book at this point.  Last year I posted a little Horrible Harry activity that we did.  Well, we did the same thing again this year!  No need to recreate the wheel all the time, right?!  We’ve been reading Horrible Harry Bugs the Three Bears.  My students chose 1 of 2 sentence stems:
1.  Horrible Harry really is horrible because…
2.  Horrible Harry is NOT horrible because…
You can get this little Horrible Harry freebie {HERE}!

And, we’re trying to master prefixes/suffixes, BUT I have to tell you that this isn’t an easy concept!  I mean I have to answer “does ____ make sense” at least 100 times a day, BUT it’s really helping us think about those words a lot!  We’ve done lots of sorting, identifying prefixes/suffixes, and brainstorming words!  You can grab some of the activities we’ve done this week {HERE} for FREE!

  1. That's comforting to hear that your kiddos are having to work hard at prefixes ans suffixes, too. I was banging my head on my desk yesterday when correcting their work and reading words like “unlight” on their answer sheet! Thanks for the freebie!

  2. Amy- Thanks for sharing this AWESOME freebie! I was just looking for resources to practice prefixes and suffixes… we definitely need more practice! I just blogged about using your money unit this week! Check it out if you get a chance!

  3. We are currently working on suffixes too. I agree that it is a hard concept! Thanks for the freebie! I'm gonna head over and follow you on Instagram now!

  4. Ok, how am I only NOW finding you? I am new to the “blogging” thing and found you becasue my class is in charge of my blog and we are looking for other class blogs. But, I saw all the amazing things you do! You are amazing at this making things and selling them on TPT! I have 4 items already in my checkout! I wish you lived closer so I could pick your brain on how you make all this cute stuff! Keep it up (my husband says stop) LOL And p.s. your daughter is beautiful!!!!

  5. Hi Amy!

    First of all, you're wonderful!

Secondly … just wanted to let you know that you can add a “feed” to your instagram to your blog … that way any photos you add (with a hashtag), will be automatically added to your blog in a side-line. I used snapwidget.com (free) but I'm sure there are other sites out there to add a 'gadget' or a 'widget'. I'd be lying if I said I made up those names. Heehee.

    Thanks for all you do,
    Amie
