After months of dreaming, planning, creating, revising, organizing, and working alongside some incredibly talented people, we finally got to step inside the classroom setup ideas we had imagined for so long.

This space was created for the Get Your Teach On classroom, and every single corner was designed with teachers and students in mind. We wanted a classroom that felt bright, welcoming, and joyful, but also one that was functional and easy to maintain throughout the school year.

Today, we’re walking you through the different zones we created in this classroom, sharing our favorite classroom organization ideas, decor pieces, and simple systems that help make the school day run smoothly.

Whole Group Instruction Area + Classroom Calendar Setup

The whole group area is truly the heart of the classroom. This is where students gather together for morning meetings, classroom conversations, mini-lessons, read-alouds, calendar routines, and so many meaningful moments throughout the day.

For this space, we wanted everything teachers use daily to be easy to see and simple to access. We included classroom essentials like:

• Daily schedule display
• Calendar area
• Classroom objectives
• Writing process visuals
• Number line and math references
• Classroom expectations and routines

Having these tools displayed in one central location helps create consistency for students. They know where to look, what to expect, and how to participate in daily classroom routines.

We also added bright colors, meaningful messages, and cheerful classroom decor pieces to create a space where students feel excited to gather and learn together.

Classroom Library + Calm Down Corner

Every classroom needs a cozy space where students can slow down, read, reflect, and reset.

Our classroom library area was designed to feel inviting while also staying organized. We used book bins, accessible shelving, comfortable seating, and colorful accents to create a space students would actually want to use.

Right next to the classroom library, we created a calm-down corner where students have access to tools that support emotional regulation and independence.

This area includes:

• Feelings posters
• Breathing strategy visuals
• Calm down choices
• Cozy seating
• Books and reflection tools

The goal isn’t just to create a cute corner, but to give students a consistent space where they can practice identifying emotions and choosing strategies that help them return to learning.

Student Organization Station: Supplies, Turn-In System + Student Work Display

One of the biggest classroom management tips we can give is this: create a home for everything.

When students know where materials belong, they become more independent and classroom routines become so much easier.

In our student organization area, we included:

• Labeled classroom supplies
• Math manipulatives
• Student materials
• Turn-in trays
• Mailboxes
• Student work displays

We wanted this area to be a space students could use confidently without always needing teacher support. I’ve witnessed similar classroom systems that build student independence in the past year as a sub—they all incorporate simple setups like these.

We also created a spot to celebrate student work because their hard work deserves to be displayed! Adding student work boards helps build classroom community and gives students ownership of the space.

Teacher Organization + Small Group Area

The teacher area needs to work just as hard as you do. 😉

For this space, we focused on creating systems that keep everything organized and easy to grab during instruction.

Our teacher organization area includes:

• Teacher toolbox labels
• Drawer organization
• Lesson supplies
• Intervention activities
• Teacher tools and manipulatives

When you’re pulling small groups, meeting with students, and moving through a busy school day, having everything within reach makes such a difference.
