Getting Ready for B2S

It’s Christmas in July Days 9&10!  I hate to even talk about getting ready for Back To School, BUT with August approaching shortly, it’s just got to happen!  I still have two vacations to enjoy before going back to work, so I’m not going to dig too deep just yet 🙂
Today I’m just going to focus on my number line, because it is kinda like the hub of my classroom.  My kids gather at it constantly to solve problems, write number words, etc.  I normally keep it down low as shown below.  For some reason last year I decided to move it above my board, and I will NEVER do that again!  My poor kids couldn’t use it all year because it was just too high!  So, I have already relocated it for the new year 🙂  My number line is from Scholastic.  You can find it HERE
As I am trying to sleep during these late-July summer nights, I often find myself lying awake thinking of all the things I need to do for a new year.  Why is it that I have a month until students come back, but I’m already constantly bombarded with my to-do list??  I got to thinking about my locker numbers… why not make them number words so my kiddos have yet another place to utilize in the classroom?  And why not match the even/odd numbers from my number line??  So, I made my new locker numbers and am sharing them with you!  I went ahead and made them to 100 in case you find a new use for them 🙂  Click HERE to download!
And then I got to thinking some more… if I have the numbers 1-24 on my lockers and book bins (and number line), I don’t really need them displayed somewhere else, but I definitely want the numbers up to 100.  So, I made new number words… a little different from the traditional look of number words, but I really like how they turned out!
You can get these number words in my TpT shop HERE.

  1. Is there any chance you've considered making your numbers go up to 120? I love your ideas, but we have to teach to 120 and it's so hard to find things that match going beyond 100. Just a thought!

  2. I love your number line! I've been wanting to purchase one from Lakeshore that has -20 through 120. Never too early to introduce kids to negatives. =] Love your posts so much, and now I think I have an idea for where to put my number line up.

  3. Why have I never thought to put my number line below my board????? Love that idea!!! The kiddos might actually use it! It's the little things that just BLOW my mind! Thanks for this great post!

  4. I saw these numbers the other day on Instagram and put them on my to-do list immediately! Such a great idea! Thank you SO much for the freebie Amy! You are the bestest!
