I have to be honest here. I arrived at school and soon found out that I had completely forgotten to make any language arts plans for this week. I knew that we would be covering verbs, but I hadn’t prepped any activities or materials for it, other than what I posted this weekend. So, I kicked it into high gear and started whipping some plans together. Here are some things we did/will do this week!
We made a Verb anchor chart:
We read a book about verbs:
We will do these activities that you can pick up on my TPT for FREE!
I received these great Scholastic News magazines in the mail! We read through it and highlighted all of the verbs that we could find! It had some really neat stories in it!
Not quite sure why this picture won’t turn around!
We started studying shapes before Spring Break, so today we did a little review of 2D shapes. The kiddos made Shape Monsters and wrote a little story about them. Most of them turned out pretty cute. You can grab the patterns and this activity in my Shapin’ Up Unit!
Other than that, I pretty much just tried to survive today! It sure is hard going back to work after nine days off. I will be the first to admit that I was out the door right after dismissal (although I did just continue to work once I got home, but working is a lot more fun when you are cuddled up on the couch in your pjs!)
Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Thanks for the freebie Amy! I totally agree with you about the working from home. There is just something calming about it. I am actually on Spring Break and I am currently still in my P.J.'s! 🙂
I completely agree! We had a staff development day and they closed our building at 3:30– which I saw as an invitation to go shopping and then head home to finish the rest of my work! We are on SB in 3 weeks–I'm counting down!!!
Thanks for the verb activities. We will totally be VERB-ing it up our last nine weeks when we get back from spring break, so they will be very helpful.
I liked what Kelley said and can totally relate with her last sentence. 100%!
Thanks again,

My class had the first grade version of that Scholastic News issue and it WAS awesome! Did your class go crazy over the goats in trees page? Mine did! And we're learning vowel digraphs so that page's headline was PERFECT. 🙂
Marvelous Multiagers!
I'm in love with your site! Everything on here is adorable. I'm in the process of making a career change from lawyer to teacher. I am on the hunt for a teacher job and I found your site while trying to put together a portfolio. Thanks for all of the great ideas! I'm following your site even though I'm not even a teacher (yet!). Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated!

This is really random, but do you make your anchor charts with your students, or before the lesson?
They look so marvelous!
