Hey y’all! I’m linking up with Blog Hoppin‘ for the first day of Teacher Week 2015! I’m fairly certain these five fun facts about me are going to be nothing new, but I’ll share anyways!
1. I do NOT leave my house without my Yeti If you are wondering, “Should I buy one?? They are so expensive?? Is it really better than other tumblers??” The answer is YES… do it… pull the plug! They are worth every single penny! I drink more water now than I ever did before because it’s always so icy cold :)))
2. I am now a full-blown {crazypants} soccer mom. I scream at the top of my lungs, buy team gifts, make the soccer schedule…cute, of course, and find myself more into soccer than I ever thought I would be! Jared is the coach and Joelle is a star #ifIdosaysomyself. I’ve never played soccer before {wasn’t really an athlete growing up… I may have been too into who was in the stands than what was going on in the game!!} but I absolutely love watching Joelle play!
3. I am also a mama to the cutest puppy in the world. Marley is a good 6 years old, but I still treat her like a baby. I don’t let anyone get onto her, or blame her for a thing! She’s the baby and that’s that!
4. Speaking of being a mom, I now have a first grader! I’m not quite sure how it happened, but sister is now in 1st grade! I get to see her sweet face each and every single day at lunch, and that just makes my heart burst with joy! She loves, loves, loves school!
Her teacher used Babbling Abby’s Fun With Firsties unit during the first week of school. This paper cracked me right up! First Grade is Apparently Amazing! She is a mess and a half!
5. Well, this has now turned into all things Mama-related! One of my favorite things about having a daughter is #twinning! I love coordinating outfits and matching with my sweet girl as much as possible! Here we are matching at the Dallas Cowboys’ game…
And here we are at church! I found a miniature version of one of my maxi dresses. Joelle thought it was so cool that we had the same dress!
Before I go, I want to show you a couple of other activities that we did last week. My kiddos learned all about what it means to be a mathematician. This is a class favorite every single year!
On Friday I decided to randomly do our first directed drawing. I taught my kiddos how to draw a portrait of themselves using step by step instructions. I absolutely LOVE how they turned out! I’m really trying to teach my students to add lots of details and color to their work. I think by Friday they finally put into practice what I had hounded on all week! We only had a few minutes left so we did a quick little write up about ourselves to go with our portraits 🙂

Wait, shouldn't one of your five things be that you make AWESOME materials for your classroom and other teachers?! I started my school year with your math today – the Making Numbers Flapbook is a great first day task that allows me to do an informal assessment of my new students' math skills, cutting prowess, and glue stick usage! So glad you shared that last summer; I've used it two years in a row now. Thank you!

Amy, I love reading your posts! You inspire me in my classroom and in my adoption journey. Thank you for all that you share!
You are such a good mommy! I really need a Yeti now! You always have me spending money!!!
You and Joelle are just too dang cute!!!!
I love the twinning! I will have to remember that when I have kids of my own. Makes great picture keepsakes. Adorable craftivities. I always love seeing what you create!
Tomorrow my students are wrapping up our introductory math activities using your I'm A Mathematician craftivity. Such a great way to see their thoughts about math early in the year.
I love the self portraits your taught your students to do. Do you have your step by step instructions anywhere? I looked in your TpT store but did not see that. Perhaps I missed it?
