Description
At the beginning of each year I always take a moment to tell my students that everyone is going to be a mathematician in our classroom! We talk about the struggles we’ve had in math, we celebrate the things they’ve accomplished so far, and we discuss what types of skills we will learn in math this year! We also discuss what a mathematician is… what does he/she do? We chart all of those things down. We quickly learn that we are ALL mathematicians! This craft can be used as a follow up to that discussion. Students make themselves as mathematicians and then write about what makes them a mathematician! The BEST part… this is now DIGITAL and PRINTABLE!
This craft is from my Let’s Get Started Unit. If you already own that unit, please do not purchase this! Find that here: Let’s Get Started
Here’s how it works digitally: Students move the pieces to create themselves as a mathematician. There is a girl and boy option. Then students type to describe themselves as a mathematician.
– Slide 1: Directions
– Slides 2-3: Movable Pieces to make themselves as mathematicians
– Slide 4: Type what makes you a mathematician
Here’s how it works with the printable version: Students cut out and assemble the mathematician. Students write what makes them a mathematician.
– Templates to create a mathematician.
– Speech Bubble for writing
