It’s my birthday, y’all! Is it sad that all I want for my birthday is 30 minutes of peace to blog, ha?! But, it’s so true!
So, here’s what we’ve been up to! This week has been ALL about perimeter. When I saw this blog post from Reagan Tunstall I knew I had to incorporate this cutie-pie activity with perimeter. I love when I find an idea that I can easily modify for my class, makes my life so much easier AND it benefits my students! I also LOVE me some Reagan Tunstall!
On the back of the shapes we labeled our measurements and found the perimeter.
And, on the front we labeled the shapes with their perimeters! You can get the shapes and labels I used (for free) HERE!
We also made these little perimeter flap-books! Here’s the materials you need to make these guys! Another FREEBIE for you!
Now, onto Main Idea! We’ve been using my “What’s the Main Idea” unit to make a few projects…
For these activities, I gave a pretty simple book to each pair of students. After the students read the book together they made their little main idea displays.
And, I also purchased Kelley Dolling’s Main Idea unit! It is SERIOUSLY fabulous! You need it, I promise!
And, sometimes you just need a quick activity to get a grade! So, we also did some Main Idea practice in our spirals!
Last on the list: Adverbs! I’m definitely not a fan of teaching adverbs, but for some reason they make me do it anyways 😉 Jamie Rector has a really great adverb unit if you are looking to spice up your adverb lessons! She just recently updated the whole thing, so check it out!
We played this fun adverb/adjective game from her unit! The kids LOVED it!
Today we did a little writing. Our topic was thunderstorms. Our mission was to include at least 5 adverbs. Done and done! Hopefully this little guy used them the correct way, ha! I’m seriously BAD with adverbs!
And there you have it! Our week in a nutshell! Tomorrow we will wrap all three concepts up! And, then it’s the weekend! YAY! I’m off to celebrate my birthday with my little family! Have a great evening!!!!
