Does the thought of organizing your teaching materials excite you or stress you out? Honestly, I go back and forth between the two. Sometimes I am in an organization frenzy where nothing and no one can stand in the way of making my life more streamlined. Other times I’m the person throwing things into cabinets and closing them as quickly as possible so papers, bins, and books don’t come tumbling out. However, one of my goals is to assist teachers no matter which category they find themselves in.
One way we do this is by providing Book Outlines for all of our Rooted in Reading teachers. We find that teachers can easily organize their year with these quick at-a-glance documents.
The curriculum you will see below all comes from Rooted in Reading for Kindergarten.
Book Outlines
For each week of Rooted in Reading, we provide a Book Outline. This allows teachers to quickly glance at that week of reading and see what’s coming up in the nonfiction connection, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and phonics (specifically for K-1). There’s no digging through the weekly PDFs to see what the focuses are!
Having these outlines will help you to quickly grab what you need for the week without wasting too much time.
For this particular week of reading we focus on Asking and Answering Questions along with the story The Smallest Girl in the Smallest Grade. After seeing the book outlines, teachers can easily grab the resources they need for the week. Less time planning and prepping? Yes, please!
