This week has been a TOTAL killer. We’ve had state assessments for 3rd-6th grades all week which meant 2 days with no conference time, and I had to test a small group of 4th graders. Let me just tell you how hard it is to go from a completely silent (and utterly boring) testing room back to a room full of 2nd graders! I must say that it’s probably 100 times harder on testing grade levels, so I am more than thankful that I teach 2nd grade! PTL those days are over for the year, and it’s all back to normal- well as normal as it’s going to get for only having some 20-odd days left of school!
Since this 6 weeks will be cut short for end of the year events, I am working like CRAZY to get all my grades in soon. I know that within the next week it will be like pulling teeth and nails to get my kiddos to turn in quality work. So, I’m trying to get that all taken care of by next Friday, which means I’m in a whirlwind of grading papers and doing some not-so-fun activities right now!
In the mix of all the craziness, we did manage to do one fun activity today. I had the kiddos brainstorm 8 adverbs to put around their sun, then they chose 2 to write into sentences. I’m super sorry, but I don’t have templates to share for this… it’s been in my files for years, and am not sure who I got it from! It would be SOOOO simple to recreate, though!

This sounds exactly like my day (and week). So nice to know that I'm not out here all alone!
Those adverb suns are ADORABLE! I should order my own paper as well. We are almost completely out of all of the fun, springy colors. Your measurement pack looks GREAT. Oh, how I love you so!
I'm wishing you a fast Friday too! Thanks for always sharing your ideas. You rock, sister!

The suns are super cute. I liked your tree, too. Do you hand draw your craft templates or do you make them on the PC with something?
April… I do a little of both, just kinda depends on what I'm making. I do the templates on Power point if they only need shapes to make them 🙂
Love this idea! And the alphabet activity in the background looks awesome. It looks like a student created alphabet chart. Can I ask what it is? I'm going from 1st to 2nd next year and I'm looking for as many ideas as possible! 🙂

whooo hoooo!! tomorrow is FRIDAY! praise the Lord!
If you have a Sam's Club close by- they usually have a huge pack of multicolored contstruction paper that is a great deal. I usually buy a few packs at the beginning of the school year.

I can't wait until CA stops testing in second grade. It's so unfair to young children. It's great your state already knows that!
Cute sun activity!
Hey Amy! Yay for Friday!!! Thanks for always posting so many cute things for me to copy cat you 🙂
I featured you in my Fun Friday Finds today (TWICE actually)… so would you check it out and let me know what you think?
Have a WONDERFUL weekend!!

Amy,
I am so envious that your state does not test 2nd graders. I am in CA. It is sooo stressful.
Have a great weekend.

I love how you use string or yarn from wall to wall to hang work. I was wondering how you hold it up? Do you just staple yarn on wall? Thanks! Great idea!
