Oh Subtraction… don’t you just love it 😉 As much as I love teaching math, I always fret a little over our
subtraction with regrouping unit. Every year I try to use lessons that have been successful in the past plus throw out ones that were not. So, I’m constantly looking for ways to get my kiddos engaged and involved in our unit. It seems like no matter what I do or plan we always need to back up a little and regroup {pun most definitely intended :)}! Here are a few activities that my students really enjoyed from the past week!
Each student made their own snowman out of construction paper scraps. Of course, they absolutely LOVED this. On the bottom circle they solved 4 math problems. We did these towards the end of the week after my students had played lots of games, done tons of problems, and worked really hard. This was there little reward for being little worker bees.

Regrouping always worries me too. We did our unit right before Christmas break and have had to review after. Best of luck with money! I always think that is so much harder for the kiddos to get than any other math unit.
