I realize that a lot of you probably teach about
frogs in the spring during your Science block. Well, I don’t teach Science, and it’s fall… so it makes sense that we are learning about
frogs, right?! Ha! Our standard this week is locating facts/details and comparing fiction/nonfiction books. I try and always pick a topic that I know my kids will enjoy and make things a little more exciting. So, frogs it is!
We started off the week reading Frog and Toad are Friends. We discussed character traits and comparing characters and all about the aspects of a fiction book.
Then it was time to start reading nonfiction books so that we could talk about facts and details! After reading a few books I had my students draw a picture of a frog. Then, they wrote on sticky notes to describe frogs.
I put all of our charts and activities in the hallway! Makes for a fun bulletin board 🙂

Very cool! This may be a little high for second grade, but my third grade class did the same thing with bats last week! I used Bat Loves the Night and Stellaluna.
