Dirt Puddin’

It’s Friday afternoon y’all!  That makes this girl pretty stinkin’ happy.  I LOVE my job, but I also LOVE the weekends {you know how I feel, right?!}!
We finished reading “Horrible Harry Bugs the Three Bears” yesterday.  Well, in the story, Harry brings dirt pudding as a snack for his reading group.  I was pretty shocked that several of the kids had never heard of dirt pudding.  So, I ran to the store after school yesterday to get what we needed to whip up this yummy snack!
Let me just say that this was a HUGE hit!  I’m pretty sure that I’m their favorite teacher ever… at least for the 45 minutes that it took to complete the activity, ha!  In the words of one sweet student… “Mrs. Lemons, I feel like I’m in Heaven!”  As we were making our real dirt pudding, the kids wrote how-tos.  Afterwards we made these cute lil’ dirt puddings out of construction paper… which was also a pretty big hit.  Finally something the boys got into!  And, can I just add that I didn’t have to hound on anyone to write during this activity?  They all wrote happily and willingly, which is a huge plus!

And, my sweet teammate came back from maternity leave this week!  I was dying to have her back at school.  Thankfully her sub was all kinds of wonderful, but there’s nothing quite like the actual teacher!

  11. I used to teach a unit on plants & worms.. and we ALWAYS made and ate dirt pudding.

    I haven't done that in a few years. It would be fun to pull it back out and do again.
