Happy *ALMOST* Christmas! I hope that you are having a wonderful time in the classroom with your students. I also hope that your caffeine is strong and your days are short, ha! With December quickly approaching, I wanted to share a fun FREEBIE with you!
But, first… We are all finished with 1st Grade Rooted in Reading December! Katie and I are so excited with how it turned out! You can check out those details below!
If you haven’t read The Great Spruce, it’s a definite MUST! It’s about a little boy and his grandpa sharing their tree with New York City. The little boy advocates for his family and the tree and convinces the city to transplant their tree rather than cut it down. Definitely heartwarming!
Over and Under the Snow teaches students about animals preparing for the winter. It also shows many animal homes during hibernation! The way the book is written is BEAUTIFUL!
We just can’t get enough of Jan Brett! She has the best Christmas stories. The Animal’s Santa does not disappoint either! Students will also learn about how some animals camouflage during the winter to product themselves in the snow!
Looking to incorporate other holidays into your lesson plans? Oskar and The Eight Blessings is about a family who sent their son to America to escape the harsh treatment the Jews were experiencing. He arrives in New York City and encounters 8 blessings as he is looking for his aunt. It is a wonderful book to use when teaching about Hanukkah!

Now, what you’ve been waiting for! I have a December AND January Book BINGO for you! Book BINGO can be done as homework, or it can be done in the class! The goal is to get your students reading as many books as possible throughout the month. Students can do 4 in a row, or go for a Black-Out (my preference). You can download Book BINGO below!
I hope you have a great week!

Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much for your Rooted in Reading bundle. I have already purchased December and January. I love them! Question: can you tell me if Book Bingo will continue for the rest of the school year? I sent home the January one with my class for reading homework.
Thanks Again!
If you get my Newsletter, I sent out an editable one this week 🙂
