Christmas Book FREEBIE

Have you read Dasher by Mark Tavares? It’s a story of how Santa got his reindeer. It’s beautifully written with gorgeous illustrations. Dasher is a young doe who is a part of a traveling circus. One night she escapes and eventually finds Santa and his sleigh. Dasher ends up helping Santa and his horse deliver presents on Christmas Eve. I highly recommend adding it to your holiday collection! I’ll share more about Dasher in just a bit.

Speaking of Christmas books, I have a digital and printable FREEBIE for you that can be paired with ANY Christmas story that has a problem and solution. Students write/type draw/insert pictures for the title, author, characters, setting, problem, and solution. This can be assigned through Google Slides or Seesaw in one click! You’ll find this FREEBIE at the bottom of the blog post.

Now let’s get back to Dasher! Katie King and I took Dasher and created a week of reading and vocabulary activities to go along with it. This new resource goes perfectly with the story and freebie I just shared. We have FOUR teaching videos included… plus every single thing is printable and digital! Read more about that HERE!

We also paired two nonfiction readers with it: Bison Basics and The Reindeer Reader so that students can practice comparing and contrasting animals.

If your students are anything like the ones I’ve taught, they LOVE any and all things ANIMAL. Here you can see how we compared and contrasted bison and reindeer after reading the nonfiction books that are included.
