Some things happen in life that are just so unexpe Some things happen in life that are just so unexpected. For me, that was TpT. I knew I wanted to be a wife, a mom, a teacher. But never in a million years would I have imagined a world in which I got to share my classroom creations with other teachers.

Tomorrow, Teachers Pay Teachers celebrates 20 years, and it has me looking back at the 15 years that TpT has been part of my own story.

These pictures take me WAY back. Back to the classroom where it all began. Back to blogging and creating during every spare minute I could find. Back to TpT conferences, trips to the TpT offices, and a time when I really had no idea where any of this would lead.

What started as a place to share the things I was creating for my own students became so much more.

TpT gave me a space to create and share ideas with teachers far beyond the walls of my own classroom. It introduced me to educators from all over the world. Some of my very best friends came into my life because our paths crossed through TpT. It opened doors I never could have imagined, and it has helped me provide for my family in ways I will never take for granted.

But when I look through these old pictures, it’s really the people that get me.

The friendships. The teachers I’ve met. The conversations. The conferences. The late nights creating alongside friends. The people who have downloaded something I made and trusted it enough to use with their students.

Fifteen years later, I’m still creating. Still learning. Still incredibly grateful that something I started all those years ago became such a huge part of my life.

So happy 20th birthday, TpT. I’m thankful I got to be along for so much of the ride. 💛

And since you only turn 20 once, TpT is celebrating tomorrow, September 29, with 30% off using code 20YEARS. It’s a bigger discount than their typical sitewide sales, so if you’ve had something sitting on your wishlist, tomorrow is a good day to grab it.

But mostly, today I’m just really thankful for where it all started and for every person who has been part of the journey since.
ou've done the apple taste test... but have you ma ou've done the apple taste test... but have you made it math? 🍎

The taste test is a classroom favorite for a reason. But if you're already cutting up apples, you may as well get a few more skills out of it.

After tasting, students rate their favorites, graph the results, and analyze the data.

And this is just one piece of it. The full set runs the apple theme through reading, math, science, grammar, and art — all built around one book.

Comment BUSHEL and I'll send you the link to the apple reading unit, plus 10+ more apple activities to go with it.

It's the poisonous apple experiment, and it's the biggest payoff for the least prep of anything in my apple unit. Students watch the reaction, jot down what they notice, and draw what they saw.

And it's completely free.

Apple season... meet fractions 🤝 Fractions are a m Apple season... meet fractions 🤝 Fractions are a must, and these apple-themed activities just sweeten the deal.

Most seasonal activities stop at kindergarten, which leaves second and third grade out of a lot of the fun. Not these. Students split apples into halves, thirds, fourths, eighths, etc., and shade the seeds to practice parts of a set.

It takes something abstract and turns it into something they can hold.

Can we talk about thematic learning for a second? At its best, a good theme is the glue. It weaves subjects together, it connects what your students are learning to the world outside the classroom, and best of all, it gives you a reason to bring in rich stories that carry the theme way past the lesson.

And the right book is where it all starts.

Comment BUSHEL and I'll send you my apple book picks plus 10+ activities to pair with them. Then tell me your go-to apple book, because I'm always adding to the stack. 🍎
