Are you getting ready to start review season in your classroom? We’re inching closer to the end of the year and I know things may be looking a bit…hairy. But hang in there! Let me tell you when it was time for reviewing essential skills learned in my classroom, I would always make sure that I spruced things up a bit. Reviewing things you already know can be boring and tedious. And while that may suit you just fine, your students may need a bit more engagement to get in the groove of showing what they know! Of course, it’s also important to make sure you have activities that meet your students where they are. That’s where these editable math activities come in!
I wanted to share 5 math activities that you can EDIT or adjust to meet the unique needs of your students and still keep their attention! These activities include fun themes like solving mysteries (very escape room-ish), Easter, and refreshing beverages! All the Spring and Summer feels in this post! Plus, I’m including two freebies below. One is perfect for Easter week and the other will have you ready for fun in the sun!
Here are 5 editable math activities that will make your math review more fun!
Editable Math Games and Stations
I like to pull out math games when our days have become monotonous. It helps break up all of the worksheet drama! I love refreshing equations for this time of year because as the weather is heating up, you can’t help but think about a nice refreshing glass of lemonade! This equations activity is part of a full set of editable math games. You simply open up the editable templates in PowerPoint and plug in your own numbers, equations, etc. In the example, I’ve included plus and minus ten but this activity can literally be played in any way you need! Students just choose a number from the ice cubes and spin an operation from the selection you’ve made. Opportunities are endless with this one at any grade level!
We provide plenty of examples so you know what you’re doing! You can see more of these editable math games in action right HERE!
Word Problem Case Files
What I love about this editable math activity is that it doubles as one of those team-building exercises! It definitely has an escape room feel, so why not get the “Summer” fun started early! Using the Word Problem Case Files, you can easily create your own word problems to fit the needs of your classroom with the included blank templates, or use ours! Your students will work together to solve the problems and earn a key to unlock the mystery. This is an out-of-the-box way to review their problem-solving skills while teaching them how to be team players. To see how I’ve made a day out of this, complete with a secret treasure box and actual keys to unlock it, read THIS!
Solve to Create
Easter is just a little over a week away so here’s an attention-grabbing activity that’s on theme! Our Solve to Create an Easter Rabbit unit is the perfect DIY math activity! Students will solve word problems to earn the pieces for creating a cute little rabbit. You can use the templates we provide or you can edit them and create your own word problems. To make it even more interesting, you don’t even have to do the math. You could type in your own reading questions, too! This editable math activity is versatile and perfect for this time of year!
Not into the Easter theme? Try the Solve to Create a Rainbow for a Spring edition, instead!
Speaking of Solve to Create…..
Grab this FREEBIE!
In case you’re wondering what to expect from Solve to Create, you can grab this FREEBIE activity to get an idea of what it’s all about! Students can break off into 6 groups and each group will solve a word problem to earn a piece of their Sun friend! And you can edit it how you see fit. You can grab this HERE!
But wait!…. There’s more!
Feed the Rabbit Multiplication FREEBIE
Are you teaching multiplication? Then you’ll want to hop right over to my shop for this bunny multiplication FREEBIE (see what I did there…Ha!) Students will be feeding the bunnies to create and solve multiplication equations, or whatever you choose. You can make the rules as students will be rolling dice to find their numbers. One roll to determine the number of groups (rabbit mouths) and another roll to decide how many carrots they’ll eat! Use the included recording sheets to write down the equal groups and equations. Even if you aren’t doing multiplication, you can use this activity! Grab it HERE! This activity is part of our 2nd Grade Magic of Math Multiplication & Division unit.
Wishing you much success in your end-of-year review! I hope these editable math activities are just what you need to get started.

Thank you for providing ideas! I share your opinion about using these activities during the warmer months. I also think math related games aren’t such a bad idea either! What do you think?
