Beginning of the Year Review with FREEBIES!

It’s a new school year! It’s time to see what your students know before digging into new content in the classroom. And in this back-to-school season, you don’t want anything that is time-consuming, over-the-top, or stressful. I know the feeling, and my job as a teacher creator is to ensure that I make things like this as easy as possible for you. No prep and no fuss… sign us all up! That’s why I recently created a Beginning of the Year Review Booklet for 2nd graders! I wanted to ensure you had something that requires little time AND makes reviewing essential concepts easy for your students and you.

The beginning of the year review booklet has a variety of activities to ensure your students are touching on essential math and grammar concepts! Here’s a look at what’s covered in this back-to-school review booklet. And if you make it to the end, there’s a surprise FREEBIE waiting for you!

Math Review for 2nd Graders

It doesn’t take a lot of math problems to know if your students have mastered a concept or not. With these math pages, we keep them concise and focused on one skill. In the math review section of the booklet, students will be practicing:

  • place value
  • comparing numbers
  • even and odd numbers
  • math facts
  • addition and subtraction
  • skip counting
  • word problems
  • telling time
  • counting money
  • shapes
  • fractions
  • graphing
  • and much more!

Grammar Review

It’s also important to see what your students have learned and retained from the year before when it comes to grammar and language. You will also have access to engaging grammar review activities for:

  • rhyming words
  • compound words
  • nouns, adjectives, and verbs
  • capitalization
  • punctuation
  • fixing sentences
  • and more!

And just to make your day, you can grab a FREE sample of the booklet at the end of this post!

Prepping the Review Booklets

I’m a fan of always having WAY MORE than what you need, so you’ll find that this review pack has a lot of different pages to choose from! The wonderful thing about the Beginning of the Year review booklet is that it can be used in a few different ways. These review booklets can be used as morning work, independent work, or sent home as homework.

I try to make the preparation as easy as possible. Simply copy front and back, cut the pages in half, and staple them together! I like to use colorful paper like this Astrobrights paper from Amazon {affiliate link}, just to build excitement. Another option is to have students color and decorate their front covers… either way works beautifully!
